Hello! My name is Alisha Thadani and I am a senior at South Forsyth High School. Through the Honors Mentorship program at my high school, I was lucky enough to intern at a physical therapy institution, which is one of my career interests. I decided to apply for this program because I wanted to gain perspective on my potential in the therapy field if I choose to pursue it. With this internship, I have worked alongside a professional, experienced the day-to-day triumphs and challenges of the career, and I will hopefully decide if this area is truly for me. To gain the most from this, I wanted to go everyday with an open mind and a positive attitude; I also asked my mentor questions, not only about the career, but also each case, to further understand what the job entails. This is prepared me for the future, not only because it is gave me more insight on my possible future career, but it is also gave me a taste of what the “real world” will be like: more responsibility, faster-pace, more interaction with people from different backgrounds, etc. I am so happy I got this opportunity and I can say confidently that I made the most of it!

Another large part of the mentorship program is the Capstone project. This is where each student chooses a research topic related to their career interest and mentorship and conducts research to gain insight on the area. For my personal topic, I chose to explore the relationship between physical exercise and mental health. Since I am currently enrolled in the IB Psychology class in my high school and this subject sparked my interest, I thought it would be interesting to research the cross between these two passions of mine. In this website, you will find the research and and information that I have gathered throughout the year on this topic.
